I am a trained doula out of RI and everything in this movie is what all the doulas and midwives stand for and try to get out to women. I applaud ricky for taking this on such a huge scale and making a movie out of this natural birth issue to let women know that they do have a choice. I volunteer at a huge birthing hospital and almost all of the women are induced with pit and then have an epidural because thats what they are told they have to do.The ordinary women does not see birth everyday to know what goes on and what is better. My  thanks to ricki for opening some eyes .I am trying to get the word out about the doula community and what we can do for women and families also.My site is freewebs.com/doulasisters. Kiss

I am watching the documentary now.  I have to give many kudos!  I had my son via hypnobirthing in a hospital last year and I managed to make it to 10cms opening with no drugs!  Due to the baby's complications(and on the advice of my very capable doula), I ended up having to have an emergency C-section.  I wish I would have had this documentary in sex ed class in High School!  I think this is a must see!!!

thank you for making this documentary!

I think it is great--both of my children were not born in a hospital
When I had my daughter I went to the hospital and had an argument with the nurse being I wanted the birthing room(she is 27) and being she was my 1st i was told no--went home and the Police and First Aid Squad delivered her
My son was born in the back seat of a pea green station wagon by a policeman

My daughter's son was born in my home in the tub with a mid-wife--her mid-wife was great--the problem is that NJ took her license--in NJ they won't allow a home birth after a c-section and the woman wanted it--I know rules are rules but if they were never challanged they would never be changed

The other problem was that her medical DR knew she was going to do a home birth and refused to see her being she wouldn't deliver in the hospital(insurance reasons)

Her Mid-wife is going to practice in South America a plus for them a loss for us

With a Quick-Reply you can use bulletin board code and smileys as you would in a normal post, but much more conveniently.
