Running a website is more than publishing a few lines of code. PlanetRicki.com has a duty to educate and respond to the needs of our communities.

PlanetRicki and Unite for Children Unite Against Aids
PlanetRicki.com is proud to play a part in UNICEF's campaign to bring awareness and progress to the HIV/AIDS disease and the tremendous impact is has on our world and every human including children.

Everyday there are nearly 1,800 new HIV infections in children under 15, mostly from mother-to-child transmission. 1,400 children under 15 die of AIDS-related illness. More than 6,000 young people aged 15–24 are newly infected with HIV.

After more than 20 years less than 10 per cent of pregnant women are being offered services to prevent transmission of HIV to their infants. Less than 10 per cent of the children who have been orphaned or made vulnerable by AIDS receive public support or services. Less than one third of young women aged 15–24 in sub-Saharan Africa fully understand how to avoid the disease.

You can make a difference by supporting the campaign. The most important thing you can do is to alert people in your school, community and workplace to the fact that HIV/AIDS is not a disease that affects only adults, and that millions of children are adversely affected by the AIDS pandemic.

Support UNICEF by donating, please join the hundreds and thousands of caring people who choose to UNITE FOR CHILDREN UNITE AGAINST AIDS. Together, we can make a real difference!

By becoming a monthly donor to this five-year campaign, or by making a financial contribution whenever you are able, you will help UNICEF to help the millions of children who are missing their childhoods because of HIV/AIDS.
